This is one Philodendron that’s an absolute MUST for your collection! The Dark Cardinal got its name for it’s dark green, leathery leaves. New emerging leaves starts as a flossy bronze color. They’re best paired with a simple, large cylinder floor ceramic pot. Apart from the aesthetics, they’re low maintenance and hard which makes them the perfect beginner plant.
Light – The Black Cardinal Philodendron does well under bright, indirect light. One of the was that you can tell when your Black Cardinal isn’t getting enough light is when the plant becomes long and leggy. Too much light on the other hand will cause multiple leaves to turn yellow.
Water – This plant prefers to be watered when the top inch of the soil is dry. A sign that your Dark Cardinal may need a drink is when their leaves starts drooping. Water them thoroughly until it starts to run freely through the drainage hole. Get rid of any excess water so that your plant isn’t sitting in waterlogged soil.
Medium levels of humidity can keep your Philodendron happy and healthy. You can provide them those environments by placing them somewhere humid or giving them a misting every now and then.
Growth – This plant can grow up to 50cm
