A condominium amenity deck in BGC
Podium and rooftop amenity planters engineered to a strict weight budget over occupied floors below.
The Brief
An amenity deck several floors up, sitting over occupied units, with a structural weight limit the landscape had to respect. The brief was greenery with presence that did not fight the slab.
Why Fiberglass
- A fraction of the weight of concrete or terracotta at the same size, so the deck load stays within the structural budget.
- Large scale without the point loads that force expensive slab reinforcement.
- Weather-stable for a fully exposed rooftop position.
Install Notes
Craned and carried to the deck level in scheduled service-elevator windows. Empty planter weights were provided up front so the structural engineer could sign off before delivery.
Outcome
Full-height greenery on the deck with the load budget respected. The concrete-look finish reads as built-in without the structural penalty.
