Light – Monsteras thrive under bright indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions.

Water – Water every 1-2 weeks, allow the soil to dry in between watering. You may need to increase your watering depending on the weather, so it’s always best to check if the soil is dry.

Temperature and Humidity – This plant can do well in a normal temperature home, around 68-86 degrees Fahrenheit. They thrive best in medium levels of humidity that’s around 60% humid.

Growth Behavior – The Monstera deliciosa tends to grow wide. However, they are also large-leaved climbing plants. If you want them to grow upwards, all you need to do is to provide them with a support structure.

Tips on How to Style With Your Monstera

Once you know how your Monstera deliciosa behaves, you can now proceed to styling them as you please. What we’ll be sharing with you are some ideas we came across through research and in practice. If you’re feeling a little uninspired, here are a few ways you can go about styling with your Monstera:

Use Natural Materials

Natural materials always work best for every plant, even more so with the Monstera deliciosa. The gritty texture of an earthenware planter can do wonders in bringing your Monstera into the spotlight. Basket planters are perfect when you need to add a bit of texture to your space.

The plus side to using natural materials is that it grounds us to the very core of nature. As a result, it makes the Monstera blend in seamlessly to the interior.

Less is More

Sometimes, you don’t need a lot to make a big statement in your home. There are moments when all you need is a large and fully mature Monstera deliciosa to bring in the "WOW" factor. You can make them stand out by treating them as one of the main focal points of your home.

You can make a black and white-themed room stand out with a single Monstera. It may look plain and simple but with a white ceramic pot, you can make your lovely plant stand out from the rest.

Add Some Height

If your Monstera deliciosa still looks a bit too small for your liking, you can make them look taller by adding some height. A tall Venetian planter can do just the trick to make it look bigger and fuller than it looks.

However, if you already have a planter that you prefer to use with your Monstera deliciosa, a plant stand or a small table can work just as fine. A bonus to this is that it keeps your floors free from clutter.

Let it Climb

Monsteras are vining plants. They can be trained to climb as long as they have a support structure. There’s a lot that you can choose from, like a coco pole or bamboo support. You can place them in an empty corner of your room and let them grow into their mature size.

If you put 3 to 5 monster-sized plants together, you can create a wall of Monsteras. You can use them as a huge divider or something like a living wall. The possibilities are endless!

Just the Leaf

If your Monstera has gotten a bit too big to move around the home, a leaf-cutting or two is all you need to spruce up your interiors. It’s just the thing you need if you want to brighten up a dead corner of your home. It also makes a perfect centerpiece for last-minute dinner plans. Make sure to cut them just after the leaf node so you can propagate them.

Explore Different Variegations

The Monstera deliciosa comes in many different variegations that can work perfectly for any design you’re going for. These types of plants are fun to have around because they offer a unique pattern that we’re so used to with the regular Monstera.

Here are a few notable Monstera deliciosa variegations that you might want to look out for:

  • Monstera deliciosa ‘Albo Borsigiana’
  • Monstera deliciosa ‘Aurea’
  • Monstera deliciosa ‘Thai Constellation’
  • Monstera deliciosa ‘Variegata’

Take the time to do your research and get to know them. They may all look the same but each Monstera deliciosa variegations have different colors and visual textures to offer to the interior. Keep in mind that variegated plants need more light than the regular Monstera so make sure to keep them somewhere with lots of bright indirect light.

Utilize the Bathroom

As stated from the Monstera care overview above, they thrive best under medium to slightly higher humidity levels. Keeping them in the bathroom can give them enough humidity they need to thrive.

On the plus size, they can absorb toxins in the air and improve its quality, making it a definite win for us! So if you have enough space and light in your bathroom, spruce it up with a beautiful, lush Monstera.
